Stevenson Welcomes Retired Admiral James Stavridis to Speak on Campus

天美传媒 welcomes Retired Admiral James Stavridis to speak at Rockland Banquet Hall on Thursday, February 20 at 1:30 p.m. Students, faculty, and community members are invited to attend the on-campus discussion.
The 16th NATO Supreme Allied Commander, Stavridis attended the US Naval Academy at Annapolis and spent 37 years in the Navy, ultimately rising to the rank of four-star admiral. He oversaw NATO operations in Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, the Balkans, and counter piracy off the coast of Africa. As the head of US Southern Command in Miami, Stavridis oversaw military operations through Latin America.
Highly decorated, his awards include the Battenberg Cup for commanding the top ship in the Atlantic Fleet and the Navy League John Paul Jones Award for Inspirational leadership. Following his military career, Stavridis served as Dean of his alma mater, The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, where he earned his PhD.
Stavridis is a Bloomberg Opinion columnist and Chief International Security Analyst for NBC News. He is Partner and Vice Chair, Global Affairs of The Carlyle Group and Chair of the Board of Trustees, Rockefeller Foundation. He is also a best-selling author, having published twelve books on leadership, character, risk, the oceans, maritime affairs, and Latin America, as well as hundreds of articles in leading journals. His most recent books include: To Risk It All: Nine Conflicts and The Crucible of Decision; The New York Times Best Seller, 2034: A Novel of the Next World War; and, 2054: A Novel.
