Stevenson Students Visit Annapolis for Independent Higher Education Day

On February 18, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ students and President Hirshman visited Annapolis for the annual trip to celebrate Independent Higher Education Day.
During the trip, the students met with state leaders, including Governor Wes Moore, Baltimore County Senator Shelly Hettleman, and Baltimore County Delegate Aletheia McCaskill. The students had the opportunity to share their personal stories of success and growth, as well as thank state officials for their support of Maryland’s independent colleges and universities.
Independent Higher Education Day is an annual event that recognizes the partnership between State of Maryland and its independent colleges and universities. The event celebrates the contributions of these institutions to workforce development, scientific discoveries, global competitiveness, civic participation, and service to the community.
During this special event, Stevenson students and leaders join with their counterparts from throughout the state to engage in a variety of exciting activities, including meetings with legislators, presentations, and a luncheon.
The long-standing partnership between the state and Maryland’s independent higher education institutions benefits Maryland students, businesses, and communities through workforce development, innovation, civic engagement, and service.
